Sacraments


Sacraments with a small 's' are encounters with the Holy in everyday life. Sacraments offered through tactile signs (water, fire, bread, wine, oil and laying on of hands) and prayer with the Christian community are connections with Christ by rituals of initiation, healing and service.

We minister the following Sacraments

Touch, anointing with oil and words / songs of healing make up this healing ritual. Effective for mental and physical illness.

When your heart is troubled or your conscience pricking, it can help to tell your story confidentially. In a loving interaction with the pastor, deep listening and prayer address hurts and facilitates the relief of unhealthy guilt.

Baptism is a foundation in the Spirit for a person to be on mission with Christ - to live out gospel values. As an infant, the rite is a spiritual transformation. As an older person, fired by the Spirit with an identity in Christ through a ritual of water, name, oil and the reception of spiritual gifts, one moves compassionately into acts of worship and social justice in community - the Body of Christ.

Like a family dinner, the Eucharist table is open. All who attend can receive Christ in communion, children included.

We listen to your understanding of marriage and work out a ritual meaningful to you. The focus of a sacrament is the presence of Christ in your union - be it non-binary, same sex or husband and wife.

Much like baptism, confirmation focusses on the reception and stirring up of the gifts of the Holy Spirit which produce the fruits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Ordinations take place through a training program with RCWP Canada. There is no permanent deaconate – ordination as a deacon leads to ordination as a priest. The bishop of RCWP Canada is ordained mainly to ordain other qualified women. She does not take an administrative role. Candidates vow obedience to Christ, not the bishop.
